Castres, the sub-prefecture of the Tarn, is a cultural destination well worth the journey. The native city of Jean Jaurès is also home to the Goya Museum, devoted to Spanish painters including, of course, the most famous among them. The old city, with its Saint Benoît Cathedral, a classified historical monument, takes one back to the late Middle Ages. Finally, a trip to the Pays d’Ovalie (literally, "oval ball country") is not complete without taking in a rugby match at Jean Pierre-Antoine Stadium, home of four-time Champion of France, the Castres Olympique.
