Get close to the Tower of Pisa

The bell tower of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption in Pisa, better known as the Tower of Pisa, owes its reputation to its inclination. Visit the many Pisan museums

As one of the richest cities in the Middle Ages and one of the most active centres of the Italian Renaissance, Pisa is home to several museums of international renown. The Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, the Museo Nazionale San Matteo and the Museo della Sinopie are home to some of the city's finest masterpieces. The Museum of Ancient Ships presents the ancient know-how of shipbuilding.
3

Walk around the Cittadella Nuova

This ancient fortress, called "new" to distinguish it from the historical citadel (called "Cittadella Vecchia"), is located on the banks of the Arno, between the Ponte della Vittoria and the Ponte della Fortezza. Its towers and walls have been preserved, and a park has been laid out and opened to the public. You can enjoy a haven of tranquillity in the heart of the city, and take in the view of Pisa's rooftops.
4

Admire the numerous palaces

Pisa's prosperity is reflected in its architecture. The great noble and bourgeois families built many palaces, whose colourful and ornate facades still bear witness to their wealth. The Piazza dei Cavalieri is decorated with the sculptures of some of the grand dukes of Tuscany, while the Palazzo Blu owes its name to its deep blue façade. The Clock Palace inspired Dante to write the Divine Comedy, in its passage dedicated to the Tower of the Fame.
5

Escape to a natural park

Covering an area of about 24,000 hectares along the coast, this natural park invites you to a wild and preserved escapade. The lake, the Massaciuccoli marsh and the trees of the ancient Pisan forest can be discovered on foot, following the numerous paths.
