In the heart of the medina, the Great Mosque of Sfax, constructed in the 9th century and significantly beautified by the end of the 10th century, boasts a meticulously decorated eastern façade. It features, in particular, two remarkable inscriptions in Kufic script. The imposing square minaret, consisting of two stacked towers and a lantern, is adorned with discs topped with exquisite Kufic writing.
