Do you dream of a cultural immersion on the cosmopolitan banks of the Bosphorus?
Treat yourself to an unforgettable stay in Istanbul under the shadow of the minarets of the Blue Mosque.
From the Grand Bazaar to the famous Turkish baths, from the dome of the Hagia Sophia to the sumptuous Topkapi Palace, the great Turkish city is a must-see destination for a successful trip at the crossroads of East and West.
Explore two continents in a day
Taking a flight to Istanbul could be described as landing in Europe but spending the day in Asia. The Turkish megacity effectively straddles the two continents. You simply need to take a boat across the Bosphorous Strait to reach Üsküdar, on the Asian bank, to photograph Leander's Tower.
Lose yourself in the maze of the Grand Bazaar
Located in the heart of Istanbul, the Grand Bazaar is one of largest covered markets in the world. It houses nearly 4,000 stalls, grouped by trade, sprawled across 60 covered streets. Buyers go mad for the leather products (jackets, shoes, belts, etc.) and carpets.
Spend an unforgettable evening at the 360
Located on the rooftop of a building on Istiklal Avenue, right in the centre of Istanbul, the 360 is the most trendy lounge restaurant in the city. It serves fine cuisine and house cocktails on the panoramic terrace, overlooking the illuminated Bosphorus Strait.
Visit Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque
No trip to Istanbul would be complete without a visit to the city's two historic monuments: the Blue Mosque, a fine example of Islamic Art, and Hagia Sophia, the former Christian church that became a mosque and then a museum. Topkapi Palace is also nearby.
Take the tramway along Iskiklal Avenue
Istiklal Avenue is the commercial hub of the city and is mostly pedestrianised. It stretches from Galata Tower, through the Bayoglu Quarter, to Taksim Square. Our tip: Walk up the avenue and visit its multitude of shops before taking the historic tramway back down.
