When and where to go in Mayotte?

Your wishes, our recommendations!

There are approximately 7660 kilometres between Lyon Saint-Exupéry (LYS) and Mayotte-Dzaoudzi (DZA) airports. In the absence of a direct flight, the length of your journey depends on the stopover airport and the time you have to wait for your connecting flight(s). Flights between Lyon and Mamoudzou generally include two connections.

Corsair offers flights between Lyon Saint-Exupéry (LYS) and Mamoudzou (DZA), with a connection at La Réunion Roland Garros airport (RUN).

Air France offers flights between Lyon Saint-Exupéry (LYS) and Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), then between Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and La Réunion Roland Garros (RUN). You can then fly to Mayotte from Saint-Denis to Mamoudzou operated by Air Austral.

You can also fly to Mayotte from Lyon with an initial stopover at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), and a second connection at Jomo-Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) to Mamoudzou on a flight operated by Kenya Airways.

The dry season runs from May to October, with slightly lower temperatures and less rainfall. This is the best time of year if you want to spend your holiday with your feet in the water, enjoying the island's beaches, scuba diving or other water sports.

The wet season lasts from November to April. Showers are frequent, sometimes intense, but short-lived. Less touristy, the wet season generally offers more attractive rates and fewer visitors.

Interested in whale watching? We advise you to go to Mayotte between July and October when the humpback whales give birth to their calves in the lagoon.

Mayotte is an overseas department and region. There are no specific formalities for French nationals, and a valid national identity card or passport is all you need to travel to the island.

We recommend that you book your ticket as early as possible. Prices usually vary according to how full the aircraft is, and a seat booked several weeks or months before the date of the flight generally costs less. You can also get more attractive prices for your accommodation.
