Bamako-Sénou airport is Mali’s primary airport. It is managed Aéroports du Mali.
Within the scope of its Economic and Social Development Programme, the Government of Mali has placed a particular emphasis on air transportation as a means of improving accessibility, both domestic and international, for a landlocked country of Mali’s size.
Aéroports du Mali has launched a major programme to upgrade Bamako-Sénou Airport, coupled with projects to develop the regional airports of Gao, Timbuktu, Mopti, Sikasso and Kayes. Construction of the new cargo terminal at Bamako-Sénou Airport was the first big project in a five-year programme to develop the airport, including extension of the runway (from 2700 to 3200 m), modernisation and extension of the current passenger terminal (two buildings totalling 3200 sq.m.).
In this context of major growth, Aéroports du Mali is relying on Aéroports de Lyon – Management & Services for technical assistance in managing and operating the platforms.
