More than 3000 delegates and EU Transport Ministers were present at Lyon Airport for the first day of the Connecting Europe Days organized in Lyon

Lyon Airport kicked off the Connecting Europe Days, organized in Lyon

On Tuesday, June 28, Lyon Airport had the honor of hosting more than 3,000 delegates and Transport Ministers at the event "Connecting Europe by Air - the Green Transformation" as part of the Connecting Europe Days organized in Lyon -the European Commission's event for transport in Europe.

Adina-Iona Vălean, European Commissioner for Transport, and Nicolas Notebaert, CEO of Concessions and Chairman of VINCI Airports, inaugurated the start of the 3-day Connecting Europe Days by cutting the famous ribbon at Lyon Airport, one of the three centers of excellence of the VINCI Airports network.

The event was held in the presence of Henrik Hololei, Director General for Mobility and Transport at the and transport at the European Commission, Véronique Martin, Deputy Director of Sustainable Development at the DGAC and several hundred transport stakeholders including more than 20 European media.

A program around the actions deployed by Lyon Airport in the years to come

VINCI Airports has presented its environmental action plan and its implementation at Lyon Airport, which will be the first French airport to achieve zero net emissions by 2026.

On the agenda for this day at Lyon Airport:
  • Presentation of the main actions deployed by the entire aviation ecosystem to achieve environmental objectives and zero emissions
  • Discussion of common challenges and new actions to come.
 

Throughout the day, participants were able to visit the airport and witness the landing of 
of flights fueled with sustainable biofuels
.

They discovered an exhibition on the decarbonization of air mobility prepared by VINCI Airports, A4E Aviation for Europe, Wizzair and SESAR.
