 LYS turns briefly British

In the early morning of April 12th 2010, after UK airspace was closed, British Airways World Cargo transferred its European hub to Lyon-Saint Exupéry. Cargo was pre-carried by road, and crews were deployed at LYS, where two 747-400F aircraft were due to land… But then, bad news: France also decided to close much of its airspace! BAWC finally relocated to Zaragoza, Spain.

Fatton innovates sustainably

A pioneer at LYS, Fatton began building a terminal at CargoPort in June. With nearly 2,000m2 of warehousing and offices, the facility is due to start up in early 2011. Sustainability is naturally a consideration: the roof will have 1,500m2 of photovoltaic solar panels – a first for an air-freight operator at a French airport, and also a way for Fatton to celebrate its 100th anniversary and look to the future.
