CargoPort
Land reserves
With a 150 hectare platform, Cargoport has the potential to expand its freight business and welcome new operators. Its land reserve means investors can establish new freight-related businesses.
Improved road access to the area and the Carex project are examples which highlight Lyon Airport's willingness to invest in the development of its intermodal freight operations.
The Carex project, a future European high-speed rail freight service connected to the Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport, will symbolise this future development.
The Lyon Carex association, created in September 2008, is part of the Euro Carex package, to contribute to the development of freight transport by high-speed train between airport hubs in Europe through its high-speed rail network.
This new rail freight service should be considered as a new niche set to revolutionise multi-modal transport with a positive impact on the economy, environment and employment.
For the Lyon-Saint Exupéry platform and its territory, Carex is an asset for economic development which will attract new companies to set up business here.
At Lyon-Saint Exupéry, as in other railports (Carex air-rail terminal), private and public bodies are working together and joining forces to complete the project in 2015.
